Improved Speed and Accuracy in Decision-Making

Headquarters is promoting a “major shift toward data-driven management,” in which it uses queries to retrieve raw data entered by operational departments—rather than relying on reports—to assess the current situation and formulate management plans. To this end, work is underway to build a “data lake” that consolidates data from all departments into a single location.

Previously, the process of preparing reports—which frontline staff used to assess the current status and inform management decisions—was time-consuming and left room for subjective interpretation of the data. The same was true for dashboards. Since key data points were often missing from the dashboards created independently by each department, it was difficult to accurately grasp the company’s operational status.

To resolve these issues, CEO Kang Jeong-ho has taken a hands-on approach. He is personally organizing the query values (items). Once this task is complete, the primary goal is to build practical new dashboards based on these items and completely eliminate in-person and written reports. Currently, the company is in the process of reviewing the necessary data items for each department one by one.

CEO Kang Jeong-ho emphasized, “By standardizing and codifying all assets and business processes, as long as data is entered accurately, we will be able to call up only the necessary queries to immediately check the current status and make decisions.”

This transition is expected to improve operational efficiency by eliminating duplication of data entry and delays in data aggregation. Previously, even when purchasing a single item, the same information had to be entered twice—on both the purchase request form and the expenditure authorization form—and processing was concentrated at the end of the month, taking two to three weeks. However, moving forward, all asset transaction details will be reflected in the system daily as of 6:00 p.m. Additionally, the responsibility for data entry will shift from finance staff to the staff members in the departments actually performing the work.

In addition, profits and losses are immediately reflected at the time a contract or order is placed, regardless of whether payment has been made, and profit and loss statements, cash flow statements, and statements of changes in assets are prepared and managed separately for each department. The scope of codification is expanding beyond tangible assets, such as equipment, to encompass all areas of the company. Content produced by the marketing team and news articles are also classified as intangible assets, with production responsibilities, rights relationships, media outlets, and execution costs structured as query values.

Coding also encompasses tasks such as managing HR information, real estate and business premises, wine inventory, and potential branch locations. As departmental autonomy expands, internal controls and security are being strengthened in tandem. Work is underway to strictly differentiate access permissions for sensitive data, such as HR information, based on security classifications.

Furthermore, to prevent financial incidents and data manipulation, the roles of the person executing expenditures and the approver are separated. The accumulated raw data will serve as the foundation for future AI-driven business automation. The ultimate goal of this major transformation toward data-driven management is to have AI handle repetitive tasks—such as inventory tallies and accounting reconciliations—thereby completely freeing all departments from simple, repetitive work.

CEO Kang said, “We don’t need to have a perfect data system from the start. The key is to get started now,” and urged, “Let’s work together to complete this major transformation by systematically entering the data generated today, step by step.”
