Gwanghwamun The Square Dental Center is a hospital with a convenient system for both domestic and foreign patients. The young medical staff, including Dr. Hong Jun-ki, actively introduces new technologies and materials.
This is because even if it costs money, it benefits the patient or the medical staff. Because of the region’s high number of foreigners and business travelers, the clinic has its own laboratory and a system to complete treatments according to patients’ schedules.
As for being one of the more expensive hospitals in the neighborhood, Dr. Hong said, “We’re getting paid what we deserve because we use good materials and spend enough time to get the best results.”
One of my most memorable patients was an American living in Japan. This patient, who spoke no Korean, came to the clinic wanting to have all of his teeth pulled and full dental implants placed.
“There were a lot of teeth that could be saved, so I convinced the patient to save them instead of pulling them out,” Dr. Hong recalls, “It was meaningful and technically challenging, but the patient was very happy with the results.”
“We’re pretty much done with implants,” Dr. Hong said, “and we’re focusing on producing better results in the front teeth.”
