The second Minish Course (18th) was held in the United States. While the first U.S. course in October last year signaled the company’s entry into the North American market, this time around, it’s a step toward expanding its base.

The three-day course, which took place May 8-10 at the VITA North America training center in Orange County, California, USA, is a continuing education credit for the American Dental Association. The 12 graduates bring the total to 446.

The course was highlighted by the presence of Dr. Reuben Kim, Associate Dean of the UCLA School of Dentistry, a leading authority in the field of conservative dentistry. Dr. Kim has risen to the position of associate dean at one of the most prestigious dental schools in the U.S., and has been a bridge between the U.S. and Korean dental communities.

His philosophy that “the future of dentistry must combine digital technology and biological approaches” is a natural fit with Minish’s commitment to minimally invasive, conservative care. Dr. Kim will serve as a key opinion leader for Minish in the United States.

“Minish has changed my perception of the patient population,” says Gina Morad, D.D.S., a dentist in Redwood City, California. “I used to not recommend veneers to younger patients because I didn’t want to cut into healthy teeth, but with the conservative nature of Minish, I can recommend them.”

Dr. Khan, who primarily does composite (resin) veneers, said he has two patients who are candidates for Minish. “I was surprised at how thin they were, and when they were set, they blended in so well that you couldn’t see the border,” he says of Minish.

Dr. Yoon Min Kang of 19th Avenue Dental in Everett, Washington, describes his meeting with Minish as a “philosophical alignment.” He says, “I’ve been pursuing a minimalist approach to deletion in my practice, with little to no deletion.

“The concept of Minish aligns perfectly with my practice philosophy, and I can’t wait to start working on cases using Minish.”

The most impressive response came from Dr. Sam Ayoub of Huntington Beach, California, who was skeptical about the idea of clear veneers.

“I used to think that clear veneers were a lie, but after taking this course, it’s not a lie anymore,” said Ayub.

“I thought that a rotated tooth case would require six months to a year of orthodontic treatment, so it was amazing to see that Minish was able to solve it,” he said.

When asked for his final words, Ayub’s answer was short and sweet. “Believe it. It works.”
