16th Minish Course Completion
The 16th edition of the minicourse saw the labs come alive as provider principals joined the faculty as clinical instructors.
Dr. Hong Jun-Ki and Dr. Lim Hee-Jae (The Square Dental), Dr. Park Hye-Shin (Suyeongha Im Dental), Dr. Park Jong-Ha (Kangseo Mo Dental), Dr. Park Hyo-Jin (Magok Blue Heart Dental), and Dr. Song Jun-Yong (Hapjeong Mo Dental) served as faculty and shared their clinical experiences and know-how. The practical training was held on March 15 and 21 at the Shinheung Training Center in Jung-gu, Seoul.
In the past, the hands-on guidance was led by the directors of the mini-dental clinics, but this time, the directors of the provider clinics who had gone through the same problems firsthand shared their experiences. The students responded that it was a much more realistic and practical learning experience.
“I joined the faculty because I wanted to share my experience with the junior students,” said Dr. Hye-shin Park, director of Suyeongheim Dental Clinic, who traveled from Busan. “If you focus only on the teeth, you may miss the whole picture, so you should develop a comprehensive aesthetic sense by looking at the patient’s face.”
Dr. Park Jong-ha Kang, director of Kangseo Mo Dental Clinic, said, “I remember the unfamiliarity of the Minish treatment method, so I connected it to general practice and explained the difference between it and crown-laminate preparation.”
Dr. Junyong Song, director of the Hapjeong Mohd. Department of Orthodontics, said, “I gave the students intensive advice on how to determine the cement shade in difficult settings and how to strengthen the restoration to prevent it from cracking.” “In just a few years, the awareness and trust in Minish has increased, and I can feel the favorable atmosphere in the field.”
Dr. Hae-Sung Kwak, the director of Minish Dental Hospital, was the patient for the one-day live, which was recorded instead of live. This allowed for more detailed videos and explanations, which drew the students’ attention.
It was highlighted by the participation of a 39-year clinical veteran from Sydney, Australia. The course enrollment was the largest to date with 33 students, bringing the total to 375.
The Global Mini-Course will be held in Korea on April 16-18 for Japanese dentists and on May 8-10 for American dentists in Orange County, California, USA.
“The Minish Course is not just a technical training, but a process of finding partners to realize our treatment philosophy together,” said Dr. Choi Changho, Head of Sales, “We will expand our network to spread awareness of preserving natural teeth and enjoy the benefits of tooth restoration.”
