Clinical sharing – to standardize formulas
while also updating cases for publication
Case studies were initiated at the weekly Wednesday Chiefs’ meeting to share clinical knowledge and standardize procedures. The 15-minute sessions are open-ended, with each director taking turns presenting a clinical case.
The idea for this regular study came from a recent mini-course. As the number of trainees grew, it became clear that the explanations and preparations were slightly different for each of the doctors helping to guide them. To perfectly synchronize the knowledge and level of care among the doctors in the Minish ecosystem, the presentation was organized.
The first speaker, Dr. Hae-Sung Kwak of Minish Dental Hospital, shared the current standards for Minish Preparation with the group and continued with case presentations. Two clinical cases were presented.
The first was a case where we replaced a decade-old resin with Minish between teeth 21 and 22. This successfully fulfilled the patient’s request to “never get caught when flossing in and out”. “Removing old restorations can lead patients to think that you’re shaving off a lot of teeth, so it’s important to explain it well,” says Dr. Kwak.
In the second case, where 20 upper and lower anterior teeth were improved with minisheets, he was disappointed. Tooth #21 was made finer and thinner than the other teeth, and the patient chose the lightest shade (cement color), resulting in a color difference from the surrounding teeth.
“The thinner the minish, the lighter the shade can make the final color expression awkward,” said Dr. Kwak. Once the case materials are updated, they will be used in various channels, including lectures and seminars.
