Dr. Junghi Hong, Director of The Square Dental Clinic, lectures at 'Minish Course' in the U.S.
Conservative treatment with Minish and a variety of case presentations
Dr. Junghi Hong, President of The Square Dental Clinic, was invited to speak at the 'Minish Course' in Orange County, California, USA, and presented various clinical cases.
The training was hosted by Minish Technology and took place at the Vita North America training center on October 24th and included 22 local dentists. Participants learned about conservative treatment methods and clinical applications utilizing Minish.
In his lecture, Dr. Hong presented cases of miniches that improve function and aesthetics, such as improving bite and alignment, treating tooth fractures, combining conventional crowns with miniches, and repairing molar damage.
The molar reconstruction case in particular caught the attention of the participants as it showed that Minish can be utilized to treat molars as well as incisors.
Dr. Hong explains that the strength of Minish is its ability to restore both the function and aesthetics of teeth in a short period of time. "If a patient with crooked teeth has a broken front tooth, we can restore it with Minish and improve the alignment of the teeth at the same time," says Dr. Hong, "It's a good alternative when patients don't want orthodontic treatment."
For patients with facial asymmetry, he emphasizes natural restoration. "Rather than perfect symmetry, the treatment should be tailored to the patient's unique smile line," Dr. Hong said, "so that it is more natural and satisfying."
When applying minisheets next to crowned teeth, he advises to be careful with the color: "We thickened the minisheets to prevent color imbalance due to thickness differences, and we also replaced the existing crowns to match the overall color," he says, "so we can achieve a natural, uniform color."
For patients who need a combination of implants and minis, "it is more stable to proceed with minis after the gums have fully healed from the implant procedure," he adds.
The molar cases emphasized conservative treatment. "If a molar was chipped but two-thirds of the tooth remained, we repaired it with a mini-crown instead of a crown," Dr. Hong explains, "so we could save as much of the natural tooth as possible and restore function."
Dr. Hong received his doctorate in dental prosthodontics from Seoul National University School of Dentistry and is currently the CEO of The Square Dental, a mini-service provider dental clinic. The Square Dental is a comprehensive dental clinic located in Gwanghwamun, pursuing a balance of natural aesthetics and oral health under the slogan 'Designing the first impression'.
