From Seniors and Juniors to Minish Treatment Partners

Drs. Lee Ju-hong and Kim Seong-ho, who have always been close friends, recently met at the Gangnam Minish Dental Clinic. The purpose of their meeting was the “Cross Minish” project, in which they would perform Minish treatments on each other’s teeth. This special project began when Dr. Lee said, “I want to try Minish now,” and Dr. Kim—who had been considering the treatment—responded, “Then let’s do it between ourselves.”
In fact, it is not uncommon for dentists to undergo Minish treatment themselves. As of July 2026, according to Minish Dental Hospital, 28 dentists and 72 doctors from other medical fields have received Minish treatment; when family members are included, the total approaches 200. However, cases like this one, where a dentist provides treatment to another dentist, are rare.
The shoot, which doubled as a filming session, proceeded in a lighthearted atmosphere throughout, in keeping with the nature of the video content. They bantered back and forth over who would be treated first—“You go first, big brother” versus “You go first, little brother”—and even engaged in some light-hearted sparring during the tooth preparation (Prep) process. Dr. Kim, who was lying in the dental chair first, joked, “I’ll raise my hand right away if it hurts,” to which Dr. Lee, whose turn came next, laughed and retorted, “That’s not how you do it. Try being a little gentler.”
It may seem playful, but it shows just how deeply the two directors respect and trust each other. Director Lee, recalling Director Kim’s early days, said, “He was so passionate and eager to learn that he absorbed everything I taught him effortlessly. She’s also very skilled with her hands and definitely has an eye for aesthetics that allows her to create beautiful designs.”
Director Kim also cited his long-standing relationship with Director Lee as the reason for his trust. “Ever since the early days of Minish, I’ve learned a great deal by discussing cases with Director Joo-hong,” he said. “At first, it felt a little awkward to entrust my teeth to someone like him, but the moment his hands touched my teeth, I could feel the skill he’d honed over many years, and I felt at ease.”
The two directors said that this project provided them with a valuable opportunity to reflect on “the patient’s perspective while in the chair.”
Dr. Lee said, “Even though I wasn’t feeling any pain at all, I actually felt a subtle sense of anxiety when I lay down in the chair. I think it’s because I didn’t know exactly where or how the treatment was being performed,” adding, “I realized that from now on, I need to talk more with patients throughout the procedure to put them at ease.”
Director Kim also said, “Now that I’m actually on the receiving end of treatment, I find myself feeling the same tension and anxiety that patients have been expressing all along,” adding, “I think we’ll need to discuss and address even those subtle details with a little more care going forward.”
